If you are like me I’m sure that when you travel you have one thing on your mind, salsa dancing.  Okay, maybe not but in all reality it is probably something that may cross your mind and you might want to take advantage of in another city.

Over the last couple of months I’ve been using Twitter (see the video above for a short overview)  to learn about the salsa dance scene in different places ranging from New York to Croatia.  Some of the folks I’ve met through Twitter that are into salsa dancing like me include Becoming a Salsero (Walter De Rooij), Dena from VidaSalsera, and DimeloRecords. Through my use of Twitter I now have a better sense of what to expect when I travel to different cities in terms of salsa dancing.   I also have people to meet up with when I visit.

Here in San Diego there are lots of people in the salsa dance scene who are using Twitter as well.  Some of them include Addicted2Salsa’s Anthony Persaud, Cafe Sevilla, A Time to Dance Studio, and Manny Cepeda.

Try using Twitter and Twitter Search to find others interested in salsa dancing.  Don’t forget to add Ritmo Bello to your follow list on Twitter!

Ritmo Bello also has coverage through other channels like Twitter and Youtube.  Twitter is an interesting concept that I wrote about earlier this year in an earlier post.  I’m including a video here again with a simple explaination of how Twitter works, but in a nutshell dancers can use Twitter to connect with other like minded dancers online in real time:

Something new I’ve launched recently is Ritmo Bello’s Youtube Channel.  Part of my approach for this website has always been to bring to light the perspective of an average person’s experience in the salsa and Latin dance scene.  With this in mind, I’ve posted videos of things an average person might encounter while attending a local salsa club or some other local dancing event.  I’ve posted an example of a video I recently produced from my channel here:

Just a reminder that the new improved Ritmo Bello will be launching by July 1st!

Along with the new feed, you’ll also notice that the new address for the site will be www.ritmobello.com . (Note: The old site address of www.sandiegosalsadancing.com will still get you to the new site as well once the changes take effect.) This is in line with my efforts to start adding in more Latin dance information covering samba, tango, cha cha, merengue, and bachata along with the same San Diego salsa dancing information you’ve come to enjoy reading on my website.

Are you a salsa addict? Ever wondered who else is thinking about salsa dancing as much as you are? Well there is a program called Twitter that allows you to connect with those people as they are having that thought.

Twitter allows salsa dancers to find out when and where other salsa dancers are going to be dancing, what experiences they might have during a night out dancing salsa, and a whole scope of other thoughts that could be expressed about the dance. I recently signed up for it and was amazed at the thriving salsa community that is using the program world wide. I now know in real time when one salsa dancer is going salsa dancing in Japan and whether someone in Berlin enjoyed their last dance at a local club. I think there is a lot of good potential for the dance community to utilize this technology and I’ll keep you updated on my own experiences with it.
