It’s hard to believe it but our final 1st Thursday of the Month event for 2016 is coming up December 1st. This will be your last opportunity to come out and dance this year in a safe and inviting environment geared specifically for those new to salsa dancing.
The format we’ve used in the past will stay the same and we’ll be hosting a meet and greet from 8 to 9pm, followed by salsa dance lessons. To find out more information about the event please visit the Meetup page here.
Founded back in 2005, the San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup Group has helped countless new dancers to become acquainted with the salsa and latin dance scene here in San Diego. The group is getting closer to reaching our goal of 3,000 members and you can help. If you are already part of the group try to invite someone you know that is not familiar with salsa dancing in San Diego and get them to join in one of the ongoing calendar events. If you are brand new to salsa dancing and San Diego in general the group is a great way to meet local dancers, learn about the great dance venues we have here in town and to become more connected with your local dance community.

Summer is here and if you are in town there is a great event scheduled for July 7th you can attend. The San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup Group is hosting a “1st Thursdays of the Month” event where you can chat, mingle and get to know other dancers before you all get lost on the dance floor.
In the past the events have been especially great for those visiting San Diego on holiday or recently moved into the area. You’ll have an opportunity to make a more meaningful connection with other dancers by being able to talk without all the noise later in the night.
I want to let you know about a great upcoming event on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo!) for people new to dancing in San Diego and regulars alike. I host a Meetup.com night on the 1st Thursday of each month at Cafe Sevilla where the idea is to get to know the people you are dancing with early in the night without the loud music and commotion. The meet and greet runs from the time the club opens through the free dance lesson that is provided and typically begins around 8pm.

The event is open to everyone so feel free to come alone or bring any friends. In the past new members of our group have found this particular event a great way to mingle and connect with interested dancers.
We’ll meet downstairs at 8pm in the Meetup.com area of the club that will be reserved for our group. Look for the Meetup.com signs. Walter Meneses and his wife Jeannette will give a free salsa lesson starting at 9pm. As an added bonus the General Manager for Cafe Sevilla is donating free passes for entry into Cafe Sevilla’s club that will be given away in a raffle to those who come early for the salsa dance lesson.
1st Thursdays of the Month with Meetup.com on April 12 is coming just in time for spring so be ready to meet and greet new members who love salsa dancing as much as you do. The date was moved from April 5th to April 12th in observance of Holy Thursday during Holy Week.

Please bring any new, unwrapped toys for donating to the Marine Toys for Tots. In exchange Cafe Sevilla is giving those who donate 1/2 off the cover price before 9:30pm. We will have an area on site at the event (8pm to 10pm) to collect any new unwrapped toys to help out the less fortunate during this Christmas season.
