Hope you are all doing well. It has been a while since the La Marriott has been closed for renovation but we recently received word from Evelio Fuentes at Rumba Entertainment that the club will re-open on June 8th, 2013.
The grand re-opening follows a major renovation to the club including an expansion to the dance floor and an upgraded dancing surface. More details will be following soon but for now the La Jolla Marriott is slated to open its doors again for salsa dancing on Saturday June 8th. Mark your calendars and see you all at the new La Jolla Marriott for some great salsa dancing.
Seems like there will be some changes coming to the San Diego salsa dance scene in November. Rumba Entertainment announced recently that they are launching a new dance venue at the Hyatt Regency Hotel La Jolla. Although I’m excited to see a new venue start, it’s not clear at this point what will happen with La Jolla’s other top salsa club located at the La Jolla Marriott. As I learn more information I’ll make sure to relay all of it to you.
The Grand opening for the new Hyatt Regency Hotel La Jolla salsa club is November17. The new club is slated to run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays after it is open. More details on the grand opening will be up soon on RitmoBello.com.
See you all at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla for SanDiego’s newest salsa dance location!
This Saturday October 11, 2008 the La Jolla Marriott is offering FREE admission to everyone.
This is a one time event to thank everyone in the San Diego salsa community for continuing to keep this Saturday night venue going strong. I’ve attached a video here from another salsa night held at the La Jolla Marriott last month:
As usual, there are free salsa lessons given at 8:30pm and DJ starts spinning at 9:30. The club is open till around 1:30am.
Santo Rico Dance Company is coming to San Diego as part of a weekend of workshops and performances this November 14th-15th, 2008.
The talented dance company, as many of you might know, has been busy since 1996 spreading salsa dancing throughout the world. The group is credited as being one of the longest standing performance teams in the world with exposure in over 25 countries and over 40 U.S. cities. They are well known for their famous choreography called the “Santo Rico Spinning Technique” and have influenced a great many salsa performance groups over the years.
Santo Rico Dance Company has performed for some of salsa dancing’s biggest names including Gilberto Santo Rosa, Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, and Victor Manuelle.
We are lucky to have them visiting San Diego in November and I’ve put together a special San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup event for a performance they will be giving at the La Jolla Marriott on Saturday, November 15th.
I’ve attached a video here so you can get a sense of the type of performances they’ve done in the past. Check it out and see you at the La Jolla Marriott!
This Saturday at the La Jolla Marriott there will be a Cha Cha Cha contest with a cash prize give away. Often overshadowed by Salsa, Cha Cha Cha dancing still appeals to those who want a different kind of rhythm.
As usual, the Salsa lessons begin at 8:30 and go until about 9:30pm. The general dancing begins immediately after and goes strong until 1:30am.
The cover is $10 BUT remember that if you get there before 8pm and get a stamp you get in for FREE.
