As always if you see any new places that should be added or others that are no longer operating please let me know and I’ll be happy to update the list to make it more accurate.
The next Sabor on the Bay San Diego Boat Party is slated to sail again May 27th, 2023. The popular San Diego yacht party hailed as “the largest Latin boat cruise in America” will feature a dress in Black and White theme.
If you are new to the Sabor on the Bay boat parties what you will find will be an exciting mix of Latin dancing ranging from salsa, bachata, cumbia and reggaeton. Typically the event features a live salsa band along with performances by some of San Diego’s best dance companies.

Believe it or not, 13 years have passed since San Diego first saw the Sabor on the Bay Latin boat cruise hit the dance scene. This year’s event on May 28th will feature a mix of live music, rooftop deck dancing and a special themed Reggaeton floor. The theme for the event is to dress in black and white which as we’ve seen over the years can make for some great fashion statements on the dance floor.
The yacht holds a whopping 1,200 people on the 3 hour cruise and offers a great opportunity to see San Diego from a different perspective on the bay. Conjunto Oyo and DJ Ukeim will be hosting the salsa floor, while DJ Rags and DJ Hush will be featuring Reggaeton and Bachata music respectively.

This month marked a major change in the San Diego Salsa & Latin Dancing Meetup Group as I formally stepped down as the main organizer for the group. Over the course of a number of years I helped to spread the word about Latin dancing of all types here in San Diego and had a great time doing so in the process.
The new person at the helm of the group is San Diego’s Salsa Susie from Ooh La La Dance. A great promoter of San Diego’s local dance scene, she’s already brought back many former members to the group and is expanding it past the 3,500 member mark for the first time.
The annual Dia De San Juan Salsa Festival is coming June 23rd and with it tons of live music, dancing and food. The event will feature Charlie Aponte along with a host of other live performers and DJ’s. If you are not familiar with Charlie Aponte check out this YouTube video of his excellent music:
The Dia De San Juan Salsa Festival is also well known for its great food vendors who will be featuring authentic dishes from Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
The original and largest Latin boat party is returning to San Diego May 25th courtesy of our friends at Sabor on the Bay. The 3 hour cruise will feature multi-level entertainment including salsa dancing on the rooftop, Latin top 40 and the feature attraction of a live bachata band, Grupo Invasion Latina.
This year the theme is changed a little in that attendees are asked to wear a combination of black and white clothing to add to the spirit of the festivities.
To get a feel for what the event will be like this video from a previous yacht party gives a good indication of what you can expect to hear and see:
