If you are new to the San Diego salsa scene you won’t want to miss this event. The San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup Group along with RitmoBello.com are hosting this year’s second Meetup.com night at Cafe Sevilla.
This event will have a dress in all white theme to celebrate the end of summer. If you have a white shirt, pants, hat, etc this is the night to wear it!
Cafe Sevilla is offering drink specials only to our Meetup.com members. Also members will get 1/2 off the cover price if you arrive before 9:30pm. The restaurant is giving away a gift certificate in a raffle but you’ll have to come early at 8pm to be entered to win (plus you can take the FREE salsa lesson which starts at 8:30pm).

Dancers for Humanity is collecting donations for San Diego’s homeless and Ooh La La Dance Company will be hosting a special event called BOMBS AWAY! 1940’s Pin-Up PARTY to help.
Come dressed in 1940’s pin up dresses or mobster attire. The video below explains in more detail what the event will be all about:

The San Diego Salsa Bachata Festival is coming up September 15th through the 18th and the schedule of events has been recently updated. In order to make it easy to follow the various events we’ve added the events to the calendar of the San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup group. Here are some of the main points of interest:

Dancers for Humanity is presenting another opportunity to help the homeless. The event is dubbed “Dance Around the World” and will have a multi-cultural dance theme. Attendees are encouraged to represent their country and cultures of origin by wearing traditional dress and costumes. The goal of the event is to collect essential items from the following list of items for the homeless people:
BOTTLED WATER, HAND RADIOs, BATTERIES, TAMPONS, FEMALE PRODUCT PADS, SOCKS, TOILER PAPER, SUNBLOCK, BAND AIDS, SMALL BOX OF BABY WIPES, FLASH LIGHT WITH BATTERIES, TRASH BAGS, SUNGLASSES, GREETING AND THANK YOU CARDS, ETC.
Along with the donations drive there will be giveaways including free music CD’s, free dance shoes, dance lessons and a host of other items that will be raffled.
The 5th Annual San Diego Salsa Bachata Festival 2011 is September 15 – 19 and Ritmo Bello is giving away a full access VIP pass! The Full access VIP event pass will give you access to all evening and day shows, competitions, and social dancing starting September 15th. The passes are normally $189 but here is your chance to get one FREE. This year we will be using YouTube to help pick the winner just as we did last year. As you may remember, the winning video submission last year was by Franklin Liranzo and you can see it here:
To be considered for the 2011 full event pass simply:
1. Create a 2 minute or less YouTube video
2. that explains why you choose to dance and why you would love to attend the Festival, all at no cost to you
3. and makes mention of Ritmo Bello in the video submission.
The winner will be chosen based on:
1. Creativity
2. Message clarity and relevance
3. Motivation and inspiration
4. Overall impact
To be eligible for the contest please submit your YouTube video link tobello_jf@ritmobello.com by Friday, August 26th, 2010. The winner will be announced on RitmoBello.com Monday, August 29th, 2011.

Brazilian Carnaval is coming to San Diego on September 3rd in the form of Sabor on the Bay, the ever growing Yacht party hosted by Alma Marketing Group. Formerly Sevilla on the Bay, this new iteration of the same great Latin themed party is sure to be a fun night.
