Thursday, March 22, 2012

David Calzada y su Charanga Habanera has played a key role in the evolution of modern day Cuban music. With lead singer David Calzada, Charanga Habanera was formed by a group of talented graduates from the “Escuela National de Arte”. They received a Grammy award in 2003 for their album Live in the U.S.A and were awarded “Most Popular Band in Cuba” in 1998, 1999, and 2001.  Here is a quick preview of their music from a past concert:

The group will be performing live at the popular 4th & B downtown and you can purchase your tickets now before they sell out.    You can find more information about the show on the calendar page for the event on the San Diego Salsa & Latin Dancing Meetup Group.

See you all at the 4th & B April 6th!

UPDATE: New Salsa & Merengue Beat Machine Puts You in Charge of Learning the Beats

Monday, March 12, 2012

A while back I shared information about an innovative website that helps anyone learning the salsa beat to better understand how it works.  The Salsa Beat Machine is back in the news again with a new Android app called Salsa Rhythm.

The Salsa Rhythm App has 10 different kinds of instruments, more than 60 musical patterns and thousands of possible combinations are available to help anyone to isolate the various sounds that comprise salsa music.

To download the Salsa Rhythm App go to the Android Market and find it here (click here).

If you’ve already downloaded the app let us know what you think of it in the comments below.  Thanks!

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

America’s largest Latin party cruise is back for 2012! The first of a series of upcoming yacht parties is scheduled for Memorial Day and tickets will be going on sale soon. As we have seen the past, these events always sell out and its not hard to understand why.

Some of the great features of the Sabor on the Bay Yacht Party include:

3-hour cruise featuring breathtaking views of San Diego harbor by night

3 floors of music (Live Salsa/Bachata band, Top 40 DJ’s & Steel Drum Duo on rooftop)

1,000 capacity luxury yacht

5 fully-stocked bars

1 massive Outdoor deck w/ Cigar Lounge

Salsa Dance lessons by: Angel & Tulane (ATTD) 8-9pm

Don’t forget that this event is a dress in all white theme so don’t be the only one who forgot to wear their white this night!  You can find out more information about the Sabor on the Bay Yacht party on the event page for the San Diego Salsa and Latin Dancing Meetup Group.

Thanks and see you all on Memorial Day Weekend at the Sabor on the Bay Yacht Party!
