David Calzada y su Charanga Habanera has played a key role in the evolution of modern day Cuban music. With lead singer David Calzada, Charanga Habanera was formed by a group of talented graduates from the “Escuela National de Arte”. They received a Grammy award in 2003 for their album Live in the U.S.A and were awarded “Most Popular Band in Cuba” in 1998, 1999, and 2001.
