This Saturday October 11, 2008 the La Jolla Marriott is offering FREE admission to everyone.
This is a one time event to thank everyone in the San Diego salsa community for continuing to keep this Saturday night venue going strong. I’ve attached a video here from another salsa night held at the La Jolla Marriott last month:
As usual, there are free salsa lessons given at 8:30pm and DJ starts spinning at 9:30. The club is open till around 1:30am.
Evelio from Rumba Entertainment is hosting a "Battle of Da Deejays" this Thursday June 12th at the Mission Valley Hilton. DJ Mambo will be up against Super DJ Robby as they spin their most quality salsa, merengue, bachata & cha cha cha music. There will also be a guest DJ from Los Angeles visiting, DJ Rumbero. Incidentally, DJ Rumbero is also the new resident DJ for Salsa Mondays at Prospect Lounge .
There are also eight confirmed dance shows that will be performing this evening.

Dancing till 1:30 am!
$ 12 cover….. children under 14 are $ 5

Hello everyone. Well another year has passed us by and its time to celebrate the New Year. I know there are many parties going on in San Diego, some with Salsa themes involved. I know at the La Jolla Marriott for example Rumba Entertainment is hosting a Salsa New Year’s eve party. There are some others around town as well and I would search around online for these other venues.

This summer, I went to see Tito Nieves at the Dia De San Juan Festival in Long Beach.Tito is one of the most recognizable names in Salsa music today.His songs make you want to dance.Johnny Polanco was the band backing Tito on this day.But, it wasn’t the band we used to see perform at the Catamaran.This time Johnny added an extra trombone, trumpet, and a sax.The sound was out of this world, to say the least.I told Johnny, I want to bring you with this band to San Diego. He said, "name the date and the place", so I did.
